One of the IOE's most popular Special Collections is the Exam Papers collection. This collection was originally assembled by the library of the DCSF (Department for Children, Schools and Families) and its predecessors. It comprises the publications of most of the major examining boards, including the AEB (Associated Examining Board), JMB (Joint Matriculation Board), University of London, University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, Oxford and Cambridge, and other regional groups.
They date from the early 1900's (with a handful of earlier examples) to the mid-1990s. Some material from organisations dealing with vocational qualifications, such as BTEC and the City and Guilds, is also included.
Work has recently been completed on cataloguing the exam papers from 1900 - 1950 for all boards and these are searchable via UCL Explore. The remainder of the collection is currently uncatalogued but organised by exam board and year.
The collection includes a full range of subjects, including Classics.
You will need to make an appointment via the Library Enquiry Desk to use any part of this collection.
