You should never need to pay a fee to access a journal article. To find out whether we subscribe to a journal, first check UCL Explore or the E-journals listing

If you are are a registered IOE student  or current member of staff, you can access all the journals we subscribe to for free by entering your UCL username and password.

If we do not, you may be able to find this journal at other local libraries such as Senate House (you will need to be a registered user in order to access their electronic resources).  See our guide on Using Other Libraries for further information.

As a last resort, if you have no success, we offer an Interlibrary Loans service.  There is a token charge for this, but it will be significantly cheaper than paying the publisher direct.

If you are a visitor to the IOE library, we offer access to some online journals via dedicated 'walk in' machines in the library. Please ask at the Library Enquiry desk if you need this service.
